I teach PADI in Cyprus, and I took a few courses trying to master this type of diving that although came from cave diving, became very popular among recreational divers . But I found that only using your technique , I am certifying capable and confident sidemount divers , which , I know, will not be a nightmare for any dive boat and/or Dive guide by using up double the space and needing double the time to kit up. I also know that they will look streamlined underwater and be safe. And it is all due to your structured approach in explaining every aspect of sidemount diving , where configuration is crucial. I would not hesitate to recommend it to any instructor teaching sidemount! Thank you very much ! read less
Sidemount PCB has many benefits, but it is particularly well-suited for cave diving. Cave divers were the ones who invent sidemount. Here are some of these benefits:
Steve, we are grateful for your support and guidance. Do not hesitate to ask questions and to explore all possibilities. It can make it difficult to progress in safety and increase your diving skills. I have been studying the online lessons for 2 years. Doing so can hinder your safety and growth. I have been following your online instruction for over two years. I have practiced and trained my muscle memory, but I also never kept my mouth shut when other divers ask. Amazing results as they now see a better path. You were also kind enough to give me suggestions or explanations during my 2 year learning experience. There is always an opportunity for you to ask, teach and discuss. There shouldn't be stupid questions in diving. I'm sure that I will be able to ask another question in the future. Lol
This course will teach you about sidemount diving, and how to create a tec sidemount helmet. One confined water session, four open water sessions and hands-on training are included. You will start with two tanks and expand to at least two additional tanks.
It is easy to transport, lightweight, flexible, no steel/allum back plates, easy to adjust, get in and out of water easily, great for disabled divers, divers who have back problems, and female divers who are small but need extra time. You can also carry two cylinders simultaneously, making it safer and more convenient.
They are not issued unless earned. Not just taking part in the course does NOT guarantee certification. For cave courses certification cards may be available from multiple training agencies. C-cards can be purchased for around $30 depending on the agency. An instructor will be able to tell you more.
You don't need sidemount for your cave diver training. We recommend our CDS Basics Orientation program.
If you will not be using sidemount during your cave diver training, what you should be looking at is our CDS Basics Orientation course.
Sidemount PCB Diving Courses are a useful stand-alone course for the technical diver who wants to become more skilled and proficient with different gear configurations regardless of if he intends to use sidemount all the time. The course may also be taught in conjunction with any of TDI’s other open-circuit specialty courses, on the condition that all prerequisites and standards applicable to both courses are fully met.
Graduates may take part in sidemount diving activities after completing this course. However, they must adhere to the following restrictions:
Our experiences are UNIQUE as they are personalized for you, and your group. From exploring our local barrier reefs, swimming with wild dolphins and sharks, discovering shipwrecks, and cleaning up our oceans, we’ve got an experience for you.
I am grateful for your wonderful work. It has been a tremendous help for anyone interested in Sidemount PCB. Your online resource was invaluable in preparing me for the cave sidemount cross-over course I took with Natalie Gibb in Mexico.
Sidemount PCB Harness (or Sidemount Harness): This special Harness is similar to a BCD and is extremely light-weight. This harness includes several D-rings on the shoulder straps as well as a Buttplate with rings or sliders.
I'm sure you get this all of the time, but I really do appreciate your online videos. I have used them to get my sidemount set up much better, and as an instructor, I have also been able to diagnose student issues and remedy them much more quickly. So, I want to thank you very much for that
